CDMP - How to certify in South Africa

1. Prospective CDMP students must have been in a data position FULL TIME for at least 4 to 6 years to obtain the practitioner's level. All other requirements must be met

2. For students who have only just started in data management or do not have the necessary expertise and knowledge, training courses are on offer via a DAMA SA endorsed training organisation, run by CDMP lecturers and focused on working towards the CDMP exams

3. Requirements from an SA perspective:

  • 4 to 6 years experience FULL TIME
  • Appropriate Education
    • BSc/ BCom in Informatics or other relevant degree
    • MCSE/ Oracle DBA/ etc
  • Expertise in your specialised elective topic
  • Must provide DAMA SA a full CV and a copy of your ID
  • Please advise if your home language is English
  • In depth knowledge  and understanding of the DMBoK, DM Dictionary of Terms

4. Bootcamps run for 3 days and ALL students will take ALL the exams during this 3 days. Bootcamps cost R9000/ non-member and R8500/ member. Non-members are provided with a 1 yer membership to DAMA SA. This cost includes the venue, proctoring fee, DAMA/ ICCP literature and a DMBoK, but exlcudes the exam fees of $285-00/ exam. Students are allowed one free try at the exams during this bootcamp so if you do fail, this is an indicator of what needs to be studied

5. DAMAI and the ICCP are the final arbiters of certification. Passing the exams is not an automatic certification

6. If you are interested in taking the bootcamp and getting certified, please email education@dama.org.za and attach your CV and copy of ID. We will add you to the list of interested people. Bootcamps run only once we have a minimum of 6 students

7. Students have 2 months after the bootcamp to rewrite failed exams. After that time period has expired, the normal rules will apply and a rewrite fee of $268-00/exam will be charged together with a R500 proctoring fee/ exam
